Students Aimed For Excellence (S.A.F.E) Truancy Program is a personalized, intervention initiative that builds bridges over the social problems that inhibit academic success for black youth in Pittsburgh. The program develops and enhances educational rigor and academic achievement by increasing student self-esteem, confidence, and leadership skills, while addressing various interpersonal, academic, and social systemic issues such as lack of motivation, poor communication skills, low self-esteem, poor attendance, and poverty.

S.A.F.E has been proven successful at:

  • Reducing tardiness, increase and improve school attendance,
  • Improving behavior and attitude toward school,
  • Increasing family/caregiver involvement,
  • Reconnecting youth to school, family and community

7am-7pm, prescriptive

1st grade through 12th grade
